Basciano was born on November 14, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York. He rose through the ranks of the Bonanno crime family, eventually becoming acting boss in the early 2000s after the arrest of then-boss Joseph Massino.
In 2004, Basciano was arrested on multiple charges, including racketeering, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal gambling. In 2011, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
